An amazing new CD by renowned piper Glen Sinclair! This CD is designed to be a teaching and practicing tool, focusing on the Fling, Sword, Sean Truibhas and Reels exclusively. With Primary to Premier Dancers in mind, tracks were conceived to facilitate improved stamina, strength and timing; all of which are intricate parts of Highland Dancing. Each track has been carefully planned and designed. In order to maximize teaching and practice time, tracks with specific purposes have been included. Features such as extra long and extra slow tunes for endurance; to those with only high-cuts and quicksteps have been incorporated into this CD. Dancers were present during recording to ensure the best possible training CD for Highland Dancing was made.
The CD begins with Starlight Music, which is intended for little ones to learn skipping and galloping to music. All other tracks are focused on the Highland dances. Included in each grouping are introduction, quick, regular, killer and enduro versions. The introductions are aids to teach introductions to the dances. Quick versions are standard steps with a faster tempo. Regular tracks are standard steps at an "average" tempo. Killer versions are standard steps at a more challenging pace, to assist the development of increased stamina. Enduro versions are extra long, and intended for individual endurance-based practice sessions & teaching group classes. The extra long music facilitates the alternating of "lines" or smaller groups in a larger dance class. There are "varied tempo" and "cut-out" tracks in the Fling group. In competition, dancers are occasionally faced with inconsistent tempos and music. These tracks are intended to help dancers focus and continue to dance with the music, so they are prepared when this happens. The Sword and Reel - "Highcuts Only" tracks are included to allow dancers to focus on these parts of the dances. 37 tracks in all. |
